Swedish Wood, an important strategic partner of China Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA), will participate in the 6th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China) as supporting organization once again with Swedish sawmill member companies in Wuhan September 13 and 14. 

 

Cooperation between Swedish Wood and CTWPDA started from 2013 based on the Memorandum of Understanding. Since then, Swedish Wood has been in touch with Chinese furniture manufacturers and timber distributors and facilitated the communication and cooperation between Swedish sawmills and Chinese companies through promotion and application of Swedish wood.

 

World-wide, Sweden is the third largest exporter of sawn timber. In Europe, the Swedish sawmill industry holds a prominent position, as the second-largest producer and the largest exporter of sawn softwood. The Swedish sawn timber consists mainly of two conifer species: spruce (Picea abies) and pine (Pinus sylvestris). Swedish wood is used for furniture, floors, wall panels, mouldings, windows, doors, outdoor decking and as a construction material. The total Swedish production of sawn and planed timber is 18 million m3 whereof 13 million m3 are exported.According to Chinese customs, sawn timber exported from Swedish to China was 518,000 cubic meters in 2015. It is estimated that it will increase to 700,000 cubic meters in 2016. In recent years, Swedish sawmillers have been recognized as the most reliable and sustainable sawn timber suppliers due to the high quality, stable price and secure supply for Chinese market.

 

The 6th GWT China Conference will be held in Wuhan Hubei province in response to the national policy. Charlotte Apelgren, the director of Interior & Design from Swedish Wood will give a speech on Sustainable living and building with Swedish wood at the conference. A delegation of Swedish sawmillers will meet Chinese customers at the B2B session as well.
