Recently,Shanghai Timber Trade Association, Taicang Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association and 

Zhangjiagang City Wood Association respectively reached the intention of cooperation with the conference organizer,  and are now the co-organizers of the 5th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China).

In the first five months of 2015, China imported 19.2658 million cubic meters of logs, which fell by 13.78% year-on-year; 10.8138 million cubic meters of sawn timbers, which increased by 8.01% year-on-year. Among this, soft logs 

are 12.8673 million cubic meters and soft sawn timbers are 7.0673 million cubic meters, hard logs are 6.3985 cubic 

meters and hard sawn timbers are 3.7465 million cubic meters. Jiangsu Province imported 7.324 million cubic meters 

of logs and 1.69 million cubic meters of sawn timbers, Shanghai area imported 0.973 million cubic  meters of logs 

and 0.964 million cubic meters of sawn timbers, which together account for about 36.5%  of China’s total imports.

Shanghai, Taicang and Zhangjiagang are the port cities where the southeastern coast of China and the Yangtze River 

Economic Belt intersect, and are also the cities of long history for the development of traditional timber  industry in 

China. Shanghai Timber Trade Association owns nearly 1000 of various types of ownership enterprises, covering 

annatto, solid floor, soft wood, hard wood, stairs, wooden doors, engineering wood and other fields;  Taicang port 

is the biggest port for timber import in China, which gathered a large number of enterprises for high-quality timber 

and wood products trade, manufacture, logistics, etc., Taicang Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association 

aims to promote the orderly development of the timber industry in the region under the  advocacy of Taicang 

municipal government; Zhangjiagang port is the first port for marine hard wood import in  China, which formed a big 

timber industry cluster which always leads the timber market price, since the inception,  Zhangjiagang City Wood 

Association vigorously strengthens the docking with associations, timber suppliers, timber traders, furniture and floor 

manufacturers and forms the efficient fusion of timber industry chain.    

The 5th China Global Wood Trade Conference (September 15 - 16, 2015) is an annual occasion where global wood

traders meet in China, it will round up government officials, outstanding enterprises,leading experts and representatives of international organizations from all over the world to discuss around “Focus on China”, “Global 

View” and “Future Trends”, and explore the road of sustainable development for global timber and wood products

starting from both strategic height and realistic issues. In the section of one-day businessmatching, the participants 

can directly face outstanding companies from both home and abroad to promote the brand and increase the
