The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is now the supporting organization of the 5th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China). AHEC will help China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA) and China Wood Importers Committee (CWIC), the host and organizer of the conference, to promote the 5th GWT China.
China will promote the use of both international and domestic wood resources to meet the ever-increasing wood demand in China market, which is mainly driven by the reconstruction of urban shanty area, the infrastructure construction, and the environmental protection projects. China is the biggest hardwood importing country, while the US is the biggest producing and exporting country of sustainable hardwood. According to China custom statistics, in 2014, China import 15,356 thousand m3 hardwood log and 8,018 thousand m3hardwood panel in total. China import 556 thousand m3 hardwood lumber and 1,961 thousand m3from the US in 2014. And about 50.27% of American hardwood is exported to China.
The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is an international non-profit trade association of the U.S. hardwood industry. AHEC represents over 100 U.S. hardwood exporters and the major U.S. hardwood product trade associations in the U.S.
AHEC provides the hardwood trade industry which includes importers and traders, architects, interior designers, contractors and furniture manufacturers with promotional assistance, technical information and sources of supply. AHEC also provides information on hardwood species, grades and specifications, products (such as veneer, lumber, plywood, flooring, mouldings and dimensions) and its applications. The 5th GWT China will take place in Shanghai, China, from 15 to 16 September 2015, following the remarkable success of four previous conferences. It’s an annual occasion where global wood traders meet in China. Every year, it attracted about 350 participants, including representatives of outstanding companies and trade associations, government officials, leading experts and representatives of international organizations from more than 20 countries.
