Swedish Wood is now the supporting organization for the 5th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China). It will help the China Wood Importers Committee (CWIC), the conference organizer, to promote the 5th GWT China in Sweden.
The cooperation between GWT China and Swedish Wood dates back to 2013, when it became for the first time a supporting organization of the 3rd GWT China. During the 3rd GWT China in Taicang, Mr Jan Söderlind, International Director of Swedish Wood, made a speech on Swedish wood trade and grades in Sweden. After the signing the Memorandum of Understanding in October 2013, Swedish Wood became a strategic partner of China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA), host of the 5th GWT China. Swedish Wood was also a supporting organization of the 4th GWT China in Qingdao, where Mr Magnus Niklasson, Market Analyst of Swedish Wood, made a presentation on market update featuring Sweden. Based on the close relationship, Swedish Wood continues to be a supporting organization of the 5th GWT China.
According to China customs' statistics, Sweden exported about 443,330 m3 sawn timber to China in 2014. Along with the great success of Swedish Wood in the previous GWT China conferences and other promotion campaigns in China, the high quality and steady supply and pricing of Swedish wood has been rewarded with the soar of market share in China since 2013, as well as the credit of Chinese wood traders.
World-wide, Sweden is the third largest exporter of sawn timber. In Europe, the Swedish sawmilling industry holds a prominent position, as the second-largest producer and the largest exporter of sawn softwood. The total Swedish production of sawn timber is 17 millionm3 whereof 12 million m3 are exported.
The Swedish timber consists mainly of softwood: Swedish spruce/whitewood (Picea abies), and Swedish pine/redwood (Pinus sylvestris). Swedish wood is used for furniture, floors, wall panels, mouldings, windows, doors, and as a construction material.
Large investments in the modernization of the Swedish sawmills have resulted in automated high speed manufacturing technology. This enables the Swedish sawmills to produce high quality products according to customer demands in an efficient way. All Swedish timber comes from sustainably managed forests, where every harvested tree is replaced by several new planted seedlings.
Swedish Wood is a promotion organization supported by the Swedish sawmill sector. Swedish Wood is a department within the Swedish Forest Industries Federation. For the last decade, Swedish Wood has been working to promote Swedish timber in China. (www.swedishwood.com)
The 5th GWT China will take place in Shanghai, China, from 15 to 16 September 2015, following the remarkable success of four previous conferences. It’s an annual gathering of global wood traders in China. Every year, it attracted about 350 participants, including representatives of outstanding companies and trade associations, government officials, leading experts and representatives of international organizations from China and more than 20 other countries.
